Dear Friends
Greetings in the
name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Rest for the weary
We focus on the
life of Jesus Christ and how He has affected our life during Lent.
Jesus says:
" All
things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son
except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those
whom the Son chooses to reveal Him.
Come to me, all you who are
weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and
learn from me for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find
rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
(Matt.11: 27 – 30)
Jesus, the Son of
God, the second person in Trinity, became a human being for one purpose.
He came to show us how to live according to the will of God and to
reconcile us with God by paying the price for our sins - death on the
cross. Jesus completed His assignment successfully and God raised Him up
from the grave and through Him gives us victory over death and eternal
life.
Read the above scripture a
few times to comprehend what Jesus is telling His hearers in His day and
His call is sssssssHto us today. Is there any human being who is not
weary and burdened? Not only with the cares and worries of daily living
but also the burden of separation from God through the sin of
disobedience?
The way a young bull is
trained is by yoking it to an older and seasoned bull to enable the
young bull to learn to walk together with the older bull in pulling the
weight. So today friends as we reflect on the words of Jesus let us
review our life and see to what we are yoked with in our daily living.
Jesus invites us all, who
are weary and burdened to come and learn from Him and He offers us rest
for our souls while He says He is gentle and humble in heart. Just
knowing what Jesus has done for us will not benefit us. We need to act
to benefit. If we accept His invitation and are prepared to be yoked
with Him, He assures us He will be with us always to guide and teach us
the way to God.
The following
questions may be of help in your reflection.
1. Am I weary and burdened
in my daily life?
2. What are the things I
strive for and what do I hope to achieve ?
3. What is my relationship
with Jesus. Is He my Lord and savior?
This is sent out by email once a week. If you have
just come across this for the first time, and would like to receive it,
please send email. Your comments and views on this are most welcome. If
this sharing could be of help to a friend of yours, you are welcome to
pass it on.
With regards,
Fred.
